I love the Vogue 73 Questions Interviews. My favorite was Neil Patrick Harris. They show you through their house while answering questions by an off screen interviewer. I won’t walk you through my space, but, I thought it would be cool to pretend that I’m being interviewed. So, I looked up interviews and picked my favorite weird questions and some questions I found pulled out insightful answers. So here it goes. My imaginary Vogue interview.

Steve: Hey! Welcome

interviewer: Hi Steve.

Chiron: Steve Brock: actor/singer/songwriter/screenwriter/director.

You do an awful lot. Is that a lot of pressure?

Yeah, it can be. But I love it so much.

What do you do when things get too much to handle?
Forgive myself.

If you weren’t so involved in entertainment, what would you be doing?
Teaching.

If you were to see your teenage self walk into a classroom, what advice would you give him?
People love you despite what you might think.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“You have never truly been rejected.” Hard to hear, harder to live it,

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve given?
Date crazy. Marry sane.

If you could do a love scene with anyone, who would it be?
Jennifer Aniston. She’d make it weird, and we might both laugh about it after.

A skill you’re working on mastering?
Gratitude.

How would you define yourself in three words?
Neurodivergent, Broken, Healing.

Who is your favorite singer?
Right now? Jamie Cullum. Might change next week. Doubt it.

Song can you listen to on repeat? 
Peace by Bobby McFerrin. Washes the stress away,

What’s the best way to decompress?
Talking to a friend who will understand you. If you wonder who that could be in your life, close your eyes, pause and then you’ll know. If you still don’t, therapy works.

What is your dream car?
Classic Ford Mustang.

If you made a documentary, what would it be about?
Actors and mental health. We’ve lost a lot of great talents due to society making talking about mental health taboo. I’d like to demystify it,

What is your biggest strength?
I can be an amazing listener.

What is your biggest weakness?
Talking about myself before asking the other person how they are. I have to remind myself to shut up.

Besides your phone or wallet, what’s a couple of must-have items? 
An Instant Pot and a car.

What’s your favorite Country to Visit?
I’ve been to Ireland twice in one year. My ancestors were Gaelic. Felt like home.

Favorite holiday?
Christmas.

Where would you most like to visit?
I’ve never been to Australia. I’d like to go and experience their Christmas.

What’s your favorite TV show of all time?
M*A*S*H*. Alan Alda could make me laugh one minute and break me the next.

Who do you turn to when you’re sad? 
God, most times. Sometimes, my best friend.

What’s a movie that made you cry? 
Dead Poets Society. The ending broke me for a month. Robin was brilliant.

Biggest surprise you’ve had?
My daughter being born two months early. Bright side, she and I share a birthday.

Current TV obsession?
Right now, I’m drawn into Travelers on Netflix. Finished the show, and it sticks with me anyway.

Favorite movie of the last five years?
The Woman King.” I’m not sure I’ve seen a movie as perfect as this one.

Favorite place to view art?
Museum of Modern Art in LA. I don’t understand any of it. But the people around me seem to understand the art and I love seeing that.

If you could master one instrument, what would it be?
Piano. I wish my parents gave me lessons. I’m taking lessons now online.

If your life were a song, what Iwould the title be?
Unwritten.

If your life was a musical, what would the marquee say?
To Be Continued.

What is your favorite time of day?
Whenever it’s quiet. That’s usually while everyone is asleep.

Have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog who loves us. Her name is Peaches. She’s a miniature pinscher. We think she might be part cat.

Best thing to happen to you today?
This interview.

What’s your favorite color?
Purple. I used to like red and blue, so I mixed them.

Hugs or Kisses?
Hugs all the time.

First thing you thought about this morning?
That I had a lot to do and not enough time. Then I said, maybe I have a lot of time, and not too much to do. Then I smiled.

Do you have any morning rituals?
I shower, take my meds, get dressed and walk my doggie,.

Bedtime rituals?
I play a few sudoku puzzles and then fall asleep.

If you could switch lives with someone for a day who would it be?
Hard to say, Maybe Ryan Reynolds. He seems to always be having a low key blast.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but you’ve been too scared to do?
Skydiving. I have acrophobia and I wonder if doing that is the best way to face that fear.

Biggest fear in life?
Abandonment.

Biggest learning experience you’ve had? 
When went to Hawaii, our tour guide took advantage of the time with tourists to tell us how badly the people who live there are treated. Still haunts me.

If someone were to narrate your life story, who would that be? And you can’t choose Morgan Freeman.
Samuel L. Jackson. There are days when a properly said curse word would be accurate.

Who would you want to write your obituary?
I think my cousin Marie would do a great job.

What’s a quote from a movie that you think people should live by?
There’s an amazing line in “Almost Famous”. “If your want to be a true friend to them, be honest and unmerciful.”

What would you want on your tombstone?
I want to have a QR code that linked to the Internet Archive. And that quote underneath it.

Biggest regret? 
Not sticking up for myself when I was a kid in therapy. I should have told my parents.

Favorite outdoor activity?
There’s a nature preserve near my house. It’s Placerita Canyon Nature Preserve. It’s quiet and there’s lots of birds. And just a few miles away from civilization.

Guilty pleasure?
TikTok. I don’t scroll through my FYP, but I can spend a while watching people I think are interesting.

Who is the most interesting on TikTok?
Hank Green. He is as curious about the world as one could possibly be.

Something you admire in a friend?
Genuine hugs that last almost too long.

Most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
I wrote a 50 minute one person show and performed it during the Hollywood Fringe. All eyes on me for 50 minutes? An adventure.

Most desired quality in a friend?
Coming from a place of love. Even when I disagree, it’s great when I know that they actually care.

Three l people living or dead would you like to have dinner with?
Greta Thunberg, Steven Spielberg, and Carl Jung.

One talent you wish you had?
I’d like to be a better cook. I love to eat, but I’d like to eat at home more.

What did you want to do with your life at age 12?
You’ll laugh, but I’ve wanted to be an artist of some type all my life. I was playing guitar from the age of 8. I wish I was better.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Raising my wonderful daughter. I taught her independence and bravery, and then she ended up teaching it back to me.

What’s inspiring you in life right now?
My friends reaching for their dreams and achieving them. Keeps me on my toes.

What’s a cause that is important to you?
Making mental health conversations common place. Especially among men. We are told by the world that we’re weak when we are honest and open about our feelings. I want to show that it’s actually the strongest thing we can do.

Superpower you would want?
Teleportation. I don’t mind flying in a plane, but I don’t like 22 hour flights.

What would you like to be remembered for?
Being a good dad and a good friend.

What’s one vice you wish you could give up? 
Fast Food.

What’s a trend you would like to see disappear forever? 
Extremism in politics. I used to think I was a liberal. Now I' feel like a moderate.

Pet peeve?
People who park backwards in parking spaces. Hey, you do you, but I just don’t get it.

What are three things you can’t live without?
My cell phone, a tripod, and my eyeglasses.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
That I’m a damn good chess player. I know that sounds boring, but I’m an open book. Just hasn’t come up until now.

What are you most excited about at this time in your life?
I’m writing a feature film.

What makes you smile the most?
Rainbows and sunsets.

What’s one thing you had to learn the hard way?
Self-care. I was homeless for a year and a half. I was forced to take care of myself in basic needs. Then I learned to do way more.

What’s something you always travel with?
Surge protectors and batteries. Never have enough outlets in hotel rooms.

What’s something you don’t want to be doing in 10 years? 

When are you the most inspired?
When I see a friend on TV or a movie. Just amazing.

Your affirmation for today?
Be authentic to yourself. And when you can’t, be Batman.
